To kvinner – to s\u00f8stre. Den ene, Lili; uendelig talentfull komponist og den f\u00f8rste kvinnelige vinner av Prix de Rome <\/i>(fransk h\u00f8ythengende komponistpris), men d\u00f8d bare 24 \u00e5r gammel. Den andre, Nadia; ogs\u00e5 komponist – om enn med mindre suksess enn s\u00f8steren. Men en s\u00e6rdeles ber\u00f8mt pedagog – «a great teacher who taught great composers», og ogs\u00e5 l\u00e6reren til mange ber\u00f8mte ut\u00f8vere vi kjenner i dag: Daniel Barenboim, Elliot Carter. Aaron Coplan, John Elliot Gardiner, Philipp Glass, Quincy Jones, Astor Piazolla og mange flere.<\/p>

P\u00e5 denne konserten forteller vi historien til Lili og Nadia. P\u00e5 grunn av Lilis tidlige d\u00f8d er historien tragisk. Men den er ogs\u00e5 fabelaktig, siden Nadia ble en slik enormt viktig og ber\u00f8mt pedagog, og samtidig var hun ogs\u00e5 den f\u00f8rste kvinne som dirigerte store orkestre i Amerika og Europa, blant annet BBC Symphony og Boston og Philadelphia Symphony.<\/p>

Vi f\u00e5r h\u00f8re verk av Nadias studenter: Bacewicz, Copland og Piazzolla, vi f\u00e5r h\u00f8re vakker klavermusikk fra Lilis h\u00e5nd med Ole Christian Haagenrud, og vi f\u00e5r ikke minst framf\u00f8rt et splitter nytt kammerarrangement signert Wolfgang Plagge av Lilis store kantate Faust et H\u00e9l\u00e8ne. Det var med dette verket hun vant Prix de Rome<\/i>. Faust et H\u00e9l\u00e8ne er bygget p\u00e5 Goethes Faust og er et stort anlagt verk for tre sangsolister (Marianne Beate Kielland, Magnus Staveland og Christian Immler) og klaver eller stort orkester, eller alts\u00e5 denne gangen kammerensemble.<\/p>

P\u00e5 denne konserten er vi ogs\u00e5 veldig glad for \u00e5 v\u00e6re tilbake i Freiasalen, en sal som har v\u00e6rt sentral i Kammermusikkfestivalens historie. Velkommen til stor konsert i historiske omgivelser!<\/p>

    Two women – two sisters. Lili; infinitely talented composer and the first female winner of the\u00a0<\/span>Prix de Rome\u00a0<\/span>(France’s most prestigious composer prize), but dead at the age of 24. The other, Nadia; also a composer – albeit less successful than her sister. But an extremely famous pedagogue – «a great teacher who taught great composers», and the teacher of many famous performers we know today: Daniel Barenboim, Elliot Carter. Aaron Coplan, John Elliot Gardiner, Philipp Glass, Quincy Jones, Astor Piazolla and many more.<\/span><\/i><\/p>

    In this concert, we tell the story of Lili and Nadia. Because of Lili’s early death, the story is tragic. But it is also fabulous, as Nadia became such a hugely important and famous educator, as well as being the first woman to conduct major orchestras in America and Europe, including the BBC Symphony and the Boston and Philadelphia Symphonies.<\/p>

    We will hear works by Nadia’s students: Bacewicz, Copland and Piazzolla, we will hear beautiful piano music from Lili’s hand with Ole Christian Haagenrud, and not least we will hear a brand new chamber arrangement by Wolfgang Plagge of Lili<\/p>

    ‘s great cantata Faust et H\u00e9l\u00e8ne. It was with this work that she won the\u00a0<\/span>Prix de Rome. Faust et H\u00e9l\u00e8ne is based on Goethe’s Faust and is a large-scale work for three vocal soloists (Marianne Beate Kielland, Magnus Staveland and Christian Immler), usually with piano or large orchestra, or this time a chamber ensemble. We are thrilled to reunite with the wonderful Freia Hall for this concert. A hall that has been central to the history of the Oslo Chamber Music Festival.
